Thanet Coast Project

Our coastline represents 20% of the UK's and 12% of Europe's coastal chalk, and we have the longest continuous stretch of chalk cliffs in Britain.
The Thanet Coast Project, a leader in its field, helps to raise awareness of our unique coastline and the marine and bird life associated with it in a way that is great fun for all. Look out for a series of events throughout the year . Highlights include:
Beach Art - create your own beach art (school holidays)
Beach Play - various fun activities suitable for 4-18's (school holidays)
Rocky Shore Safaris - hunt and record what's lurking between the tides!
Thanet Coastal Codes
We share the same coastline with internationally important wildlife, so please help by following these simple voluntary codes to help local wildlife and show respect for other beach users. There's a general seashore code and ones for specific activities such as horse riding, dog walking, powercraft activities, wind powered activities, shellfish harvesting and fixed netting, shore angling, bait digging and collecting, and field trips.
Respect our coastal wildlife - try to leave everything as you find it, or would like to find it.
Consider our coastline and other users - take your rubbish home, report hazards; and respect the rights of other users.
Stay safe - be careful on slippery rocks, of the in-coming tide, and follow bay safety signs.
Discover 80 million years of history on a walk with the Rock Doc, find out what lurks between the tides on a seashore safari, or take a boat trip out to the sandbanks and seal colonies - find out more about the coast project
